Record Store Day!
It was Record Store Day today! I’ve never collected vinyl myself, but I used to adore digging through my Dad’s collection of 45′s when I was a kid. (I think my favorite was Dizzy by Tommy Roe.) I do own one record. It was a gift from my dear, thoughtful husband.
On one of our first dates, we stopped at a record store in downtown Minneapolis called Let It Be Records. (Alas, the store is no more, they only do mail order now.) We were just bumming around, looking through the LPs for the cover art. We found one of a blue pig head surrounded by flowers by The Suburbs. It stuck out in our minds as the most bizarre cover we saw. The next date we had, my husband presented me with a token of his interest – the LP! He drove all the way back downtown, over a half hour drive from where he lived in Shakopee, getting quite lost in the process, just to buy the album for me. Apparently it took him a couple hours to get home after he purchased it due to his wonky sense of direction. *chuckle* It’s one of the goofiest and sweetest things he’s done for me. (The present that most obviously tops the LP has to be the gift certificate to the cheese store at the mall. That was the best! He truly knows me. *grin*)
Here’s a YouTube video of Waiting by The Suburbs, which is on the LP my husband bought for me:
