The T-giving Countdown!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Ahh, a feast of grand (pro)portions awaits in just a few days! What are your favorite Thanksgiving menu items? Is there anything that’s a big family tradition?

If I had to narrow it down, my top three Thanksgiving foods are…

1) Sticky buns! The sticky bun is a family tradition. Grandma made them from scratch and always topped them with loads of gooey caramel and pecans. These days we usually stoop to the 4-pack sold in the bakery section of the grocery store, but it’s better than nothing.

2) Sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping! Is it obvious yet that I have one hell of a sweet tooth? Anyway, the creamy texture of the mallows all melted on top of the starchy potato is just perfection. I know a lot of people do not like sweet potatoes, and I do not understand those people at all. They’re tasty, alright? Alright.

3) Pecan pie! Rounding out the trio of sweets is this crazy delicious dessert option! While a pumpkin pie may be more traditional, my mom used to bake her pecan pies with chocolate chips in them, and there’s just no comparing a plain pumpkin slice with a truly decadent chocolate pecan piece of heaven.

So, do I eat anything that doesn’t have sugar as a main ingredient? Hmmm… I usually try some turkey, but honestly I don’t care for it much. The stuffing is hit or miss, depending on how dry/soggy it is and what the flavoring agents are. I’ll totally eat some creamed corn or mashed potatoes and gravy though. And I’ll have some pickles and olives from the relish tray too!
