Worn Through in the Thighs

I just purged my closet of ill/non-fitting pants.  And a few terribly stained t-shirts. Seriously, I just threw out over half of the pants I owned. I’d have donated them if they were in wearable condition, but alas.

I’m going to make an effort to buy a new shirt every week or two for the next couple of months in order to improve my wardrobe slightly. I have no plans to become fashionable, but it would be nice to have more than a half dozen shirts that are appropriate for wearing in public, heh.

The majority of pants I threw out had holes in the thighs. That’s a problem I wish I didn’t have. It’s a problem I know I could do something about if I really focused. I’m so good at making excuses though. Going out to dinner with my husband gives us quality time together away from the slew of electronic devices we’d be drawn to at home. Cook at home is often stressful and unfulfilling because the kitchen is usually a mass of empty 12-pack cartons, dirty dishes, and ancient leftovers. Going to the gym on a regular basis would mean spending less time with family and friends. See? I’m great at excuses. I have lots more, trust me.

Balance is not something I excel at when it comes to my health. I need to find an approach that isn’t all-or-nothing.

  • All my clothes are sort of junky. I am going to wait until after I have my baby to try and upgrade a little bit.

Hang in there, pretty lady. <3 =]

It's so nice to hear from you again… It's been a while!! I totally know what'cha mean, about the clothes-thing by the way. Many of my older garments have tons of stains and tears, but it's so hard to part with 'em~! Curse me, and wretched my sentimentality. =P hehehe

As far as health goes however, my biggest problem is just keeping motivated. What helps, I think, is to will yourself to do a little bit on a very regular basis. Even if you don't want to. That way, if things start to pile up, at least I'm not just letting it happen. I'm keeping up with it, but at my own pace and where I see fit to do so.

I'm sure you'll figure a system out that works best for you. The hardest part of them all, is starting!

I have the same problem with my pants. That’s why I prefer jeans over everything else, they last much longer lol. And I still have shirts I don’t want to throw out but are in no condition to be worn. I wish you luck with the clothes shopping :) I personally hate shopping for clothes lol

And some of those excuses sound familiar. I got on the scale this morning and had a nasty shock lol. I had a routine going for a while, but that’s crashed and burned since our move…and the fact that it’s 30C every other day doesn’t make moving an easy thing to do. And makes my Coca Cola taste so good! lol.

  • Doesn’t it feel great to get rid of excess clothing? I used to hang on to EVERYTHING and at one point I couldn’t understand why.

Ahh I dont know how to let go of things like that it seems like when I do my mind comes up with some guilt over needing that thing I called junk exactly blah blah weeks ago. But I despreately need to get rid of some clothes, especially the ill fitting ones but I always make the excuse of it being cute and if I just lost 50 lbs..

:) yay for a new shirt a week!

Are you going to SCA this week?

This, exactly. We should be friends in real life, because then when I’m all “Health and Wellness 2010!!!!,” you can scream at me about moderation. And then when I’m all, “screw it, let’s just order pizza,” you can scream at me about moderation again.

And I, of course, will return the favor. :)

That would only work if I don’t say something like: “Can we order DaVanni’s so I can get a rice crispy treat with my pizza??” :P

Haha! I go through jeans very quickly because of this reason. I’m never going to be one of those girls who have the space between their thighs, no matter how much I work out my thighs will always touch.. it’ll just be muscle instead of fat ha! I’ve gotten used to since it’s been the way of my life for the last 10 years – pretty much since I turned into a teenager.

Maybe you should have a workout buddy? Then you couldn’t say it was detracting from your social experiences, plus it gives the extra motivation :)
