My husband has this sweater. It’s red with a black and white stripe across his chest and down his shoulders and arms. When we were dating he wore it pretty regularly. It looked good on him. Eventually, because it got a fair amount of use, it started to give out. A hole appeared by the stripe on one shoulder. It kept getting bigger and bigger. To be frank, it went from a sweater that looked good on him to a sweater than made him look like a bum. He wore it anyway, like a security blanket he couldn’t part with.
I did laundry for him on occasion during the first couple years of our marriage. One day, after the sweater came out of the dryer, I formulated a plan. I rolled it up the way you would if you were packing a suitcase, and I hid it in one of his storage tubs. I didn’t want to throw it out, I know how sentimental he can be, but I had to stop him from embarrassing me in public. It took him a while to miss it, but the day came when he asked if I had seen his red sweater.
I lied.
Just think years down the road you can pull it out to show your children. I like the direction you took with this theme. I don’t think I’ve hidden anything of Jeremy’s… but I’m sure if I would do the same.
He actually found it about a year ago when we moved to our current apartment. It has since become a piece of his ‘Nostalgia Box’ collection, which fortunately means he doesn’t wear it anymore.

Haha. There are maybe one or two items of erik’s that I would love to do that too. He constantly wears shirts with stains!
HAHAHAHAHA nice
That is an awesome story! And I agree with Dez, it’s a great direction to take the theme. I have some clothes I’ve totally worn out, but I don’t wear them in public once they don’t look good anymore.
So many guys I know do this. My father and my brother have both done this. My father with this pair of shorts he loved so much and my brother with his own sweater. I mean, come on. Let it go! LOL.
An ex of mine had this ratty UGLY gray and white shirt that was worn everywhere. I used to try to hide it but it was always found. I was SO glad when it found it’s way to the trash and never made it’s way back. Great direction for this theme!
You so have made me feel a lot better about my feelings towards my husband’s wardrobe at times. He has a few items I feel like doing the same thing to. I seriously don’t get where he thinks some of his clothing is fashionable but then again, he is a guy. I think it’s time I formulate my own little plan! Muwhahaha!
