Was it Friday Today?
All day I’ve felt like it’s been the wrong day of the week. For a while it felt like a Sunday, and other times it felt like a lazy Tuesday. I guess that can happen when you get an extra day off work.
So, it was Black Friday, all day, despite my feelings that it wasn’t. I did actually order a couple of simple gifts via Amazon a few minutes ago, but other than that I didn’t shop. I still haven’t decided if I’m going out to buy a hoop tomorrow. I suspect it will depend on the weather.
We Made It!
We survived! We managed to get through Thanksgiving and not to get sucked too far into the Mac vs. PC debate, or get into trouble on the variety of political issues the family members brought up over dinner. We don’t tend to come down on the same side of very many issues…
The highlight of the evening was definitely when my father-in-law said the dinner prayer, and called God the Master of the Universe. It was all we could do to hold off laughing til the end of the prayer. By the power of Gray Skull! *gigglesnort*
Library
The book I reserved made its way to my local library today. The husband took me over after work to pick it up. I haven’t started reading it yet, and there’s really no guarantee I’ll finish it, but that’s sort of the beauty of libraries. If it doesn’t meet my needs, I can just give it back.
I got The Elements of Persuasion, and I picked it for two reasons. First and foremost, it’s a book about storytelling. While I make one heck of an audience, I am not a natural storyteller and this is something I would like to learn more about. Second, it’s a book about selling, which is something I’ve learned painfully little about in my business management related classes.
Hopefully it teaches me something, but if not, there will be many more books to try.
Community College
I hope it can be established that I’m not a total idiot. I think it’s also fair to say that I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree. Thing is, sometimes attending community college makes me feel like a freakin’ rocket scientist. We got our second test back in my Legal Environment of Business class tonight. I got the highest grade. Again. At least this time he didn’t announce my name… he just said what the highest points earned was, and it matched what was on my paper. Anyway, I had to read two of my essay answers aloud, and I promise you these were not stellar essays. But, they still managed to be the best in the class.
It’s a really excellent thing that I follow lots of brilliant people on Google+… they help keep me grounded/keep my head from growing ridiculously large for no good reason.
In My PJs
I was super lazy today. I’ve pretty much had the place to myself, which really only happens on Saturdays, so I never left my pajamas. I also took a ridiculously long nap this afternoon. It makes me a little curious about how I’d behave if I lived alone, heh. It seems that if I don’t get dressed by about 11am, I’ve pretty much made the decision to scrap my day and be a lump.
Today wasn’t such a bad day to do nothing, though. It was the first snow of the season, and I have hours and hours of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to adventure through.
