Journey Quest

If you’re a geek like me, this is the sort of thing that gets you excited… Journey Quest is about to have a full-length second season!!

There’s something about fantasy and comedy together that works really well for me. It’s an invitation for the mind to come out and play; to not take everything so seriously. It’s a reminder that sometimes you want someone a little different on your team, because diversity of talents is a good thing. A questing party of five human fighters would get pretty dry, and quite dangerous, after a while.

I pledged $50, so apparently I get to coin two Orcish words. Any suggestions?

Censored

Sometimes I really (really really) want to write things, but I don’t know if the words will hurt or embarrass someone I like. So, in lieu of reasonably interesting blogging, here is a photo.

Vay-Cay!

Aaaaand my 11 days away from work begins… NOW! Ok, vacation really started at about 3pm, but it’s close enough.

I’m keeping up with my photo project quite well thus far. I even posted two shots today! It never hurts to work ahead, heh. I’m going to try to take more interesting photos over the next week and a half since I’ll have so much more time available! I’m really hoping for a nice fluffy snowfall one morning so I can FINALLY get a shot that I bought props for a year ago.

Tomorrow is the 160th day of my new, healthier lifestyle. I’ve lost 34lbs now, and I’m feeling really good. I want to get to the gym several times while I’m on vacation, since I’ve been a bit of a putz with exercise lately. If I ever want to try rapier or armored combat in the SCA, I HAVE to start working out and getting in better shape.

Speaking of SCA, remember the play I mentioned in the last post? I’m belly dancing in it on Saturday! *gulp* I’m already nervous! I need to practice a bunch over the next few days. I also need to finalize my costume. So. Nervous. But also pretty excited. *grin*

Wish me luck!

365 Photos

The ladies over at DayDreamz have influenced me to try a 365 project this year. These projects usually involve taking one photo per day for a year, or in some cases, one self-portrait per day for a year. I’m not quite that ambitious, so I’m just going to attempt to take and post 365 photos total during 2011. That way I can work ahead if I want, or catch up if I fall behind. Besides, sometimes it’s nice to do a series of shots that go together. It’ll still be a challenge though, considering I posted fewer than 200 shots last year.

Here’s my second photo for the year, of a handmade ornament from 1983. In the photo I’m roughly the same age as my niece is right now, 3 & 1/2. I was pretty cute, right? *grin*

If you’d like to keep an eye on my progress, I made a 365 in 2011 Set over at Flickr! Are you more of an RSS person? Grab the Set’s feed here!

Busy!

I’m still alive & healthy, I’m just quite busy with non-computer things! *grin*

I’m trying to finish up my garb this weekend so I can give it a trial run during Wednesday’s SCA Folkmoot. Let me just say Thank Goodness I started on the underdress first, heh. It’s not all that pretty, but it should be functional. It has been quite the learning experience putting it together, considering I have practically zero experience with sewing.

Other than that, I got a book about medieval calligraphy, and a pen & paper so I can give it a try. I’ll wait until I’m finished with my tunics though, or I may never finish them!

Further geekage includes finishing the first season of the new Dr. Who. It was pretty fun and terribly campy. I’ll have to see how the second season goes!
